(ORDO NEWS) — China plans to expand its Tiangong space station with a multifunctional module that will dock with the existing structure and create a cruciform combination.
According to the China Manned Space Agency (CMSA), the new module, which will function as a hub station, will have multiple docking ports, like the Tianhe base module, allowing the space station to receive more spacecraft.
Which will also help realize docking plans. commercial spacecraft visiting the orbital outpost for tourism purposes.
In 2024, China will launch an orbiting optical telescope called Xuntian, which will operate independently of the station, but can be docked to it for repairs, maintenance or upgrades if necessary.
China also intends to start active cooperation with other countries.
Chen Shangguang, deputy chief designer of China’s manned space flight program, said: “We are going to start selecting foreign astronauts to send to our space station to conduct scientific experiments together.”
Apparently, the Chinese space program has just begun to gain momentum.
