(ORDO NEWS) — A professor of physics at the University of Connecticut said that he managed to develop a time machine.
Scientist Ronald Mallet became interested in the ability to control time when his father passed away. Then he was only 10 years old, he was fond of reading HG Wells and Einstein.
The young American decided that he would devote his whole life to physics and be able to build a time machine.
By the age of 77, the American said that he had found a solution to his problem.
According to him, it consists in “twisting” the fabric of space-time with the help of a ring of rotating lasers. So, Mallett believes, you can create a time loop that would allow you to travel into the past.
The man is sure that the rotation of black holes causes the curvature of time. However, since they are located far from the Earth, it is necessary to find an “analogue” of a black hole.
“Let’s say you have a cup of coffee in front of you right now. Start stirring the coffee with a spoon.
It started to spin, right? This is what a spinning black hole does. In Einstein’s theory, space and time are related to each other.
That’s why it’s called space-time. The black hole is spinning, this will actually cause time warp, ”the scientist added.
Mallett stated that he may have found an artificial alternative in a device called a ring laser, which can produce an intense and continuous rotating beam of light.
“Light can create gravity, and if gravity can affect time, then light itself can affect time,” the professor explained.
Many believe that the professor emeritus at the University of Connecticut took the solution straight from Wells’ book.
A year after losing his father, Mallett picked up a copy of The Time Machine and had an epiphany: he was going to build his own time machine, travel back to 1955, and save his father’s life.
