A huge sinkhole formed in the park of Yorktown, New York

(ORDO NEWS) — A sinkhole has closed a popular park in Westchester County.

“I used to run there. My wife works there and we let our dogs run there and also go hiking on the trails behind the park, so we use it quite a lot,” said resident Mark Eckersdorf.

“There’s a lot of sports going on there, but it’s pretty deserted in the winter.”

On Christmas Eve, police were alerted to the discovery of a hole in the ground about 9 meters deep and 3 meters wide.
