(ORDO NEWS) — Archaeologists have discovered a history of Christian blessing that is approximately 1,500 years old. This statement was made a few days ago by the Israel Antiquities Authority.
The inscription “Christ, son of Mary” was made in Greek on a stone. He decorated the entrance to the church, which is located on the territory of Tayyib.
The church was built in the 5th century AD. Also, experts found that in this church there were mosaic sidewalks, which made up some kind of geometric pattern.
According to specialist Leah Di-Segni, the inscription was created specifically for the church that was being built. She also added that perhaps this inscription was used to protect believers from evil spirits.
The inscription also mentions the regional archbishop Theodosius. It is worth noting that archaeologists also managed to find the remains of a church built during the time of the Crusaders and a huge monastery ruled by the Bet-Shean metropolis headed by Archbishop Theodosius.
