The symptoms of a fungal infection that does not respond to treatment

(ORDO NEWS) — A dangerous fungal infection, Candida auris, has been found in many clinics and nursing homes throughout the United States. She is not afraid of any of the treatments that are used today.

In 30% of all cases that were recorded in Washington and Texas, the fungus caused the death of patients. The Johns Hopkins Health Center noted that the very first signs of infection are severe chills and fever.

The spread of the disease in two states became known on 23 July. A total of 101 people were infected. At risk were those people who have a very weak immune system.

The researchers noted that fungal infection has a fairly high mortality rate, which reaches 30%. At the same time, doctors say that they cannot compare all deaths with the influence of this fungus.

For the first time, an outbreak of this dangerous disease was recorded in Japan in 2009. In 2019, 200 people were infected across the UK.

Eight of the identified cases were fatal. Most of all, in this situation, specialists are concerned that the fungus is not afraid of drugs such as azole, polyene and echinocandin, which are usually used to treat fungal infections.
