DNA analysis helped to establish family ties of ancient people buried in Britain

(ORDO NEWS) — Scientists using DNA analysis were able to establish the degree of relationship of ancient people buried in a common grave in the UK.

The burial was found back in 2018, when archaeological research was carried out near the village of Cheddington. During the excavations, experts found traces of a man from the Late Iron Age, as well as several burials.

Inside were the remains of two adult women and a premature baby. The researchers decided to find out if there is a relationship between the dead, and conducted a DNA analysis.

As a result, it turned out that one of the women was the mother of the child, and the second, most likely, could be his paternal grandmother.
