New evidence of natural origin found for COVID-19

(ORDO NEWS) — Experts from France and Asia have found in bats that live in Laos, coronaviruses that have almost the same DNA as the one that triggered the pandemic.

Experts note that these viruses may pose a threat to all of humanity in the future. The data obtained are proof that SARS-CoV-2 has a completely natural origin.

Scientists from the University of Pasteur and Laos University have made a statement that the coronavirus that triggered the pandemic was not created in the laboratory. The results of the study were published in the scientific journal Nature.

Experts have been trying for a very long time to find viruses that resemble SARS-CoV-2 in Southeast Asia. To do this, they studied the horseshoe bats of the species Rhinolophus. In the end, they managed to find at least three similar variants with the same domains as SARS-CoV-2.

Experts noted that in those regions where the population of these animals is quite dense, a huge number of such infections can occur every day.

Domains are special parts of a protein that are used by the virus to bind enzymes in the human body. Due to this, the fastest possible cell infection occurs.
