Ex-Google CEO warns Americans about China’s technological power

(ORDO NEWS) — A new report by the Special Competitive Studies Project (SCSP), a think tank headed by former Google CEO Eric Schmidt, says the US will have to catch up with China in technology or risk not only falling behind but also becoming dependent on China.

The report identifies three key “technology battlefields” including microelectronics, 5G connectivity and artificial intelligence that could “represent the next chapter of the industrial revolution.”

China has already made significant advances in technology development that could leave the US behind. Which can lead to disastrous consequences.

In the worst-case scenario, the report notes, China could take control of rare earth minerals, meaning that “Americans will be forced to live in a world where China can turn off the technology tap.”

As a result, “the United States and other democracies will become economically dependent” on the PRC, the report warns.

In short, the think tank argues that “there are enough reasons to worry” about China’s victory in the technology race.
