Chinese scientists warned of dangerous mutations of the coronavirus

US, WASHINGTON (ORDO NEWS) — Thanks to mutations, the coronavirus COVID-19 has about 30 new strains of varying degrees of infectiousness and aggressiveness, scientists at Zhejiang University (China) established by analyzing random patients from Hangzhou.

The researchers compared the contagiousness (infectiousness) and virulence (the severity of the lesions caused) of different strains, and it turned out that their viral load on the body is 270 times different. Moreover, infection with a “weak” type of virus does not guarantee an easy course of the disease.

According to the authors of the study, in countries with the most severe epidemiological conditions, a certain strain prevails. The most dangerous were found in Italy, Spain and New York, while in the rest of the United States people are infected mainly by the less aggressive Wuhan virus.
