(ORDO NEWS) — During the last study, experts analyzed even the data that was obtained using social networks. As a result, they concluded that the “zero” patients were sellers working in the Chinese market.
The theory that the coronavirus was created in a laboratory has turned out to be unlikely. The epicenter of the spread of the disease was primarily the Huanan market in Wuhan, where seafood was sold.
Jonathan Pekar from the University of Arizona published information about how the coronavirus appeared and began to spread further around the planet.
In the beginning, the virus lived in mammals that were sold on the market in China. After some time, not only sellers, but also buyers who constantly visited this market became infected with the coronavirus.
“The virus most likely lived in those live animals that were sold on the Chinese market at the end of 2019. Due to the fact that they were too close, they could easily exchange microbes with each other.
During the study, it was not possible to establish which of the animals could actually be infected,” says Professor Michael Vorobei.
Research was also conducted, with the help of which experts tried to establish when exactly the infection passed to humans from infected animals. Presumably, at the beginning there were different forms of the coronavirus, called A and B.
These lines were the result of two cases of cross-species transmission of the virus to humans. Scientists say that, most likely, the first transmission took place on November 18, 2019.
In order to confirm their assumptions, experts used map data, as well as information obtained from social networks.
Due to this, they established that it was the seafood market that became the first epicenter of the spread of the virus. The researchers concluded that the coronavirus could not circulate freely among people until the end of 2019.
