(ORDO NEWS) — After the withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan, the likelihood of new terrorist attacks in the US “is simply off the charts,” Republican Senator Lindsay Graham said on the air of CBS.
“The likelihood of another September 11 has just increased. Our drone attacks will not kill IS. The number of IS fighters has doubled. We turned our backs on our allies and created the conditions for another September 11,” the senator explained.
According to the politician, he has never been as concerned about the United States as he is now.
Graham noted that the US war in Afghanistan is not over. The actions of US President Joe Biden have had the exact opposite effect, and over the next twenty years, White House leaders will tackle “the problems of the disaster in Afghanistan.”
There was an explosion in Kabul on Sunday afternoon . US Central Command said it had launched an airstrike near the airport in the Afghan capital. The Pentagon believes that the car contained explosives planted by IS militants.
Earlier on Friday, an American unmanned aerial vehicle killed two high-ranking militants from the group that the United States blames for the terrorist attack in Kabul.
US troops are to leave Kabul by August 31 and complete the organized evacuation from Afghanistan of tens of thousands of US citizens, third countries and local residents at risk. In Russia called the withdrawal of US troops from the region failed.
