Ingenuity has obtained new color images of the surface of Mars
(ORDO NEWS) — NASA’s Ingenuity Mars helicopter recently made its maiden flight after a two-month hiatus caused by low temperatures and lack of sunlight to recharge its batteries.
The mission was to demonstrate that Ingenuity, after the Martian winter, was still functioning perfectly and, together with the Perseverance rover, was ready to explore the ancient river delta.
New color images taken by the Martian helicopter will make you feel like you are flying with it.
Now some images have already been processed and transmitted by a member of the Perseverance team, who is on Earth and is known on the Web under the pseudonym Martian Dennis.
Color images literally make you feel what it’s like to be 10 meters above the surface of the Red Planet, while observing the horizon.
As a result of the last flight, Ingenuity flew about 97 meters in 55.6 seconds, reaching a maximum speed of 4.75 m/s.
The Martian helicopter is scheduled for five flights. So far, he has flown over 7 kilometers and spent almost an hour in the air.
