(ORDO NEWS) — A new world record for high atmospheric pressure was set in Mongolia. The automatic weather station in Zetsen-Uul, western province of Zavkhan, recorded an average pressure at sea level of 1,094.3 mbar and a temperature of -45.5 ° C.
If confirmed, it will break the previous world record of 1,089.4 millibars, also set in Mongolia exactly 16 years ago on December 30.
Stephen Burt, meteorological researcher at the University of Reading: “There are other stations that also report very high pressures. So this is not just a data error. It is certainly abnormal.”
