US, WASHINGTON (ORDO NEWS) — By the fall, along with the new line of iPhones, Apple will release the next major version of the iOS operating system. As the Israeli edition of The Verifier has learned , the latest iOS 14 will go to all i-devices on which iOS 13 is available, even 5-year-old iPhone 6s and iPod touch media players.
Sources of the site are not always right. However, last year, The Verifier authors correctly predicted that iOS 12 would pass by the iPhone 5s and iPhone 6.
The fact that iOS 14 will receive, including obsolete models, was also previously reported by iPhonesoft. As expected, this OS version will be the last for the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus line with A9 processors, as well as for the original iPhone SE 2016 release with the same chip.
If the informants are not mistaken, then the full list of devices supporting iOS 14, apart from new models, will look like this:
iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus
iPhone SE
iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus
iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus
iPhone X
iPhone Xs and iPhone Xs Max
iPhone Xr
iPhone 11
iPhone 11 Pro
iPod touch (7th generation)
The announcement of iOS 14 (as well as macOS 10.16 for Mac computers, tvOS 14 for Apple TV set-top boxes, and watchOS 7 for Apple Watch smart watches) will be held at the WWDC conference. This year the event will open on June 22 and will be held for the first time online because of the pandemic of the coronavirus infection COVID-19. Will release new OSes in September-October.
So far, not much is known about iOS 14. As the code fragments previously found in the beta version of the OS indicate , the Apple mobile platform will receive a complete system of widgets that can be freely moved and placed anywhere on the home screen, as well as more flexible settings for “wallpapers” and a new AR application.
Along with this, Apple does not forget to improve the current version of the OS. This week, the company released an update to iOS 13.5.1 and iPadOS 13.5.1, which closes the vulnerability that allowed applications to “execute arbitrary code with kernel privileges.” It is this error that the unc0ver 5.0 jailbreak, released several weeks ago, is exploiting .
Based on a kernel vulnerability previously discovered by a hacker with the nickname Pwn20wnd, unc0ver 5.0 allows you to “open” any Apple device with iOS 11.0-13.5, including iPhone 11, iPhone SE and iPad Pro 2020. However, the new version of iOS makes this feature unavailable.
