(ORDO NEWS) — Experts from the Russian company StormWall, which specializes in protection against DDoS attacks, reported massive and targeted hacker attacks on key Russian companies.
According to the press service of StormWall, companies from the fuel and energy sector, the financial industry, the manufacturing sector, and the telecom industry were attacked. These are Sberbank, Yandex, Sibur, Gazprom, Lukoil, Norilsk Nickel.
The bulk of the attacks are in the United States – 28.9% and the European Union – 46.7%. As noted, a series of attacks lasted from February 24 to 28, and on February 27 a peak was recorded.
Experts recommend that Russian companies improve their cyber defense, as, in their opinion, the situation will not get better in the near future.
“Specialists regularly observe DDoS attacks over the HTTP protocol with a capacity of up to 200,000 packets per second.
To launch DDoS attacks, hackers also actively use botnets, which allow organizing attacks with a capacity of up to 2 Tbps.
According to experts, one of the botnets, using which attacks were launched, consists of 100 thousand different devices.
Hackers also attack the DNS servers of banks in the hope that the ATM network will disintegrate,” the company’s press service noted.
