(ORDO NEWS) — According to Cristiano Amon, president of Qualcomm, there are very few smartphones we are used to.
Together with the massive use of fifth-generation communication networks, these devices will be completely replaced by augmented reality (AR) glasses.
Developments in the field of virtual reality (VR) go hand in hand with AR and are carried out by almost all major information technology companies.
Major players such as Apple, Microsoft, Google and their other partners or competitors have either already launched trial products on the market or demonstrated prototypes.
One way or another, these two areas of activity are the future, but so far no one has been able to implement them in a successful product or service.
As Amon told Business Insider, he saw enough to speak confidently – in just two years, our world will change dramatically. In his opinion, the only thing that all modern developments in the field of VR / AR lack is mobility.
In the very near future, devices almost indistinguishable from ordinary glasses will appear on the market. However, they will be “smart”, will allow the owners to communicate in social networks, impose the necessary information and images on the world around them, and will also revolutionize communication.
In a word, everything, as science fiction writers of the 20th century drew. By themselves, these augmented reality glasses will be quite simple on the technical side.
The technology needed for this already exists. And the required computing power will be provided by cloud services, access to which will be possible thanks to the fast communication networks of the fifth generation (5G).
Most importantly, these networks will provide much lower communication delays than currently common radio protocols.
