What will happen to the Earth after the sun burns out

(ORDO NEWS) — Experts have conducted another study, which demonstrated what exactly will happen to our planet after the sun completely burns out. The research results were published in the scientific journal Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society.

It is reported by Live Science.

The Earth‘s magnetic field reliably protects the planet from the influence of the solar wind. But the experts managed to find out that in the future it will become more powerful and the magnetic field will not be able to completely resist it.

Experts were able to calculate exactly how the intensity of the solar wind will increase over 5 billion years. After this period of time, the Sun will completely exhaust its reserves of hydrogen. This will lead to the fact that the core of the star will begin to gradually contract, while its outer layers will actively expand. As a result, the star will become a red giant.

Experts have tried to establish whether the magnetic field can withstand the strength of the solar wind at the end of the star’s life.

They created several different models and scenarios for the development of events, but in each case there was a complete destruction of the Earth’s magnetosphere. It could withstand a powerful solar wind flow only if it was about 1000 times stronger.

After the protection disappears, part of the Earth’s atmosphere will be sent into space. All life on the planet will perish. But literally in a billion years, the Sun will begin to turn into a white dwarf, and in this form it will exist for several billion years.

Then the star will go out completely. All this time, the solar wind will not arise, so if something on Earth can stay alive, then in billions of years life on the planet will begin to develop again.
