What will happen if all oceans on Earth freeze

(ORDO NEWS) — If we take into account what is happening in the world today as a result of climate change, then such an assumption of specialists no longer surprises anyone. If suddenly the oceans freeze, it will lead to catastrophic consequences not only for the animal world, but also for humanity.

This is reported by Science Focus.

The cost of oil will increase by several times, because it is mostly transported across the oceans. If they freeze, the number of deliveries will be limited. This will cause a severe economic collapse that will provoke martial law in most countries.

Due to the layer of ice on the surface of the water, light will not penetrate into the ocean and this will cause the death of the algae. Their disappearance will gradually spread further along the food chain, which ultimately will lead to the almost complete sterility of the oceans. Only those organisms that live near hydrothermal vents will be able to survive.

Plants will begin to die from an insufficient amount of water. Because of this, the level of carbon dioxide emitted by volcanoes will begin to increase in the air. It will slowly begin to warm up the entire planet, but it will take a very long time for the ice to completely melt.

Experts have provided evidence that this has happened before and the oceans froze about 650 million years ago. Then the event was able to survive a sufficient number of unicellular organisms, which, as a result, gave a new impetus to the development of life on Earth.
