US, WASHINGTON (ORDO NEWS) — An eclipse (ee-CLIPS) occurs when a planet or moon passes between another planet, moon or sun. There are two types of eclipses. One of them is a lunar eclipse, the second is a solar eclipse.
A solar eclipse occurs when the moon passes between the sun and the earth. When this happens, the moon blocks the light of the sun and it does not reach the earth. This causes an eclipse of the sun, or solar eclipse. During a solar eclipse, the Moon casts its shadow on Earth.
There are three types of solar eclipses: total solar eclipse, partial solar eclipse, and annular solar eclipse.
A lunar eclipse occurs when the Earth is between the Sun and the Moon. At this moment, the Earth blocks sunlight and the shadow of the Earth falls on it.
A lunar eclipse can be observed from Earth at night. There are two types of lunar eclipses: total lunar eclipse and partial lunar eclipse.
Never look directly at the sun: it can permanently damage your eyes! You must use proper safety equipment to observe any type of solar eclipse.
