Western intelligence agencies accuse China of destroying COVID-19 data
US, WASHINGTON (ORDO NEWS) — Chinese authorities deliberately hid and destroyed data on the outbreak of coronavirus in the country, the Australian newspaper The Daily Telegraph reported on May 2, citing a 15-page report by the Five Eye intelligence union (USA, Australia, Canada, Great Britain and New Zealand).
The document accuses Beijing of allegedly putting other countries at risk by hiding information about the epidemic and “silencing or disappearing doctors.”
According to intelligence agencies, China knew that a new type of coronavirus was transmitted from person to person in early December, but “denied it until January 20”.
In addition, the National Health Committee of China allegedly destroyed evidence of SARS-CoV-2 in laboratories, and also refused to provide biomaterials for scientists to create a vaccine.
The World Health Organization, which “turned a blind eye” to information about an unknown disease, was also criticized in the report.
In addition, intelligence agencies found that Chinese scientists from the Wuhan Institute of Virology under the leadership of Professor Shi Zhengli discovered some time ago coronavirus samples in a cave in Yunnan province.
The detected virus was similar to COVID-19. Intelligence of the Five Eyes said that then scientists were engaged in the synthesis of coronavirus removed from the body of bats.
However, according to their data, Chinese experts stopped worrying that they had a leak, because the SARS-CoV-2 genome did not match the viruses from the laboratory.
A senior US official confirmed to the media that the report is similar to US intelligence.
However, there are differences. For example, Australian intelligence agrees with China’s data on the start of the spread of the virus on the market. The United States, like most special services of the union, is leaning towards a different version, including laboratory origin.
US President Donald Trump has repeatedly held China responsible for spreading coronavirus in the world.
So, on April 27, he promised serious measures against Beijing and noted that Germany already wanted to collect € 30 billion in compensation, while the United States wants even more.
At the same time, on April 15, Fox News announced that the virus was allegedly leaked in a laboratory in Wuhan.
However, American scientists have denied versions about the creation of COVID-19 in the laboratory. Researchers concluded that the virus is of animal origin. Similar statements were made by the chief US infectious disease specialist Anthony Fauci.
On April 29, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov condemned attempts to bring claims to China over the pandemic.
