(ORDO NEWS) — A study conducted by specialists from the Tehran University of Medical Sciences is devoted to the influence of the type of nutrition on the character of adolescents, especially teenage girls.
The aim of the researchers was to identify the level of aggressiveness of the participants and associate it with certain features of the diet. The results of the study are published in the journal Brain and Behavior.
In total, 670 girls and girls aged 12 to 18 took part in the testing, who were offered a questionnaire, where they were asked about food preferences and character traits, the level of emotionality.
Scientists have identified three types of food: “Western diet”, healthy food and fast food.
It turned out that the highest level of aggressiveness was inherent in the first type of diet, which is characterized by the use of a lot of red meat, industrial juices and desserts.
However, the study did not reveal exactly how such food affects the increase in aggressiveness, which requires further study.
Past work has already noted that preference for meat dishes is also associated with increased aggressiveness, but this relationship has been established superficially, empirically.
But the profound impact of such a diet on human behavior remains to be established.
The researchers hope that more detailed data from further studies will help adjust the diet of adolescents to reduce their levels of aggressiveness.
