(ORDO NEWS) — Meteorologists in Göttingen recorded a record warming of almost 42 degrees. The anomaly was caused by unusually low temperatures and heavy snowfalls in Germany in mid-February, and then warm subtropical air entered the country.
As a result, three records were recorded in the country: on February 14, the temperature dropped to almost 24 degrees, and on February 21, it warmed up to 18 degrees. The jump was 41.9 degrees. Since 1880, when Jena warmed from minus 5 to 36 degrees, there have been no more such records.
The high temperature will hold out in Germany for several more days, the weather service said on Twitter.
