US, WASHINGTON (ORDO NEWS) — The US stimulus package against the backdrop of coronavirus could be increased to more than $ 2 trillion, said Presidential Economic Advisor Larry Kudlow on Fox.
Earlier, Kudlow said that the bill being considered in Congress will bring the package of stimulating the US economy against the background of coronavirus to 1.3 trillion dollars. Authorities expect it to be adopted next week.
“The minimum size of the package that we are considering is 1.4 trillion dollars … but we can increase it to help certain sectors, and we will receive more than 2 trillion dollars to fight the virus on the earth by economic means,” the adviser said.
If such a help package is accepted, it will be the largest in history. In 2008, against the backdrop of the financial crisis, Congress allocated $ 700 billion, of which less than $ 450 billion was actually invested in the economy, which later returned to the budget with profit.
On March 11, the World Health Organization announced the outbreak of the new coronavirus COVID-19 as a pandemic. More than 234 thousand people are already infected in the world, almost 10 thousand have died.
