US secret defense program planned to Nuclear Bomb the Moon
(ORDO NEWS) — According to dozens of documents obtained by Vice.com, the now-defunct AATIP (Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program) program used the US government to spend millions of taxpayer dollars researching strange experimental technologies such as invisibility cloaks, anti-gravity devices, traversable wormholes, and a tunnel proposal. on the moon with nuclear explosives.
The documents, which include nearly 1,600 pages of reports, proposals, contracts, and meeting notes, reveal some of the strangest priorities of AATIP, a secret Department of Defense program that ran from 2007 to 2012 but only came to light in 2017, when the former director of the program resigned. from the Pentagon.
That year, AATIP became synonymous with UFOs, thanks to several now-famous videos of unidentified aircraft moving in seemingly impossible ways, which former director Luis Elizondo leaked to the press after his resignation.
But new documents show that AATIP was not just investigating reports of UFO sightings.
Perhaps most intriguing among these documents are the several dozen Defense Intelligence Reference Documents (DIRDs), which discuss the viability of various “advanced technologies”.
This collection includes reports on “traversable wormholes, stargates and negative energy”, “high frequency gravitational wave communication”, “warp drive, dark energy and extra-dimensional manipulation” and many other topics that will sound familiar to science fiction fans.
Many reports highlight the impracticality of implementing advanced technologies. For example, in the DIRD report on invisibility cloaking, the authors (whose names have been redacted in all reports) write that “perfect cloaking devices are not possible because they require materials with the speed of light approaching infinity.”
However, cloaking devices that make objects invisible to microwave sensors such as radar and motion detectors are “definitely within the reach of current technology,” the report’s authors wrote.
Other reports do not shy away from bold, sometimes outrageous proposals for the implementation of advanced technologies.
In a report on “Negative Mass Driving Force,” the authors propose a plan to search the center of the Moon for extremely light metals that could be “100,000 times lighter than steel, yet [have] the strength of steel.”
To reach the center of the Moon, the authors propose to tunnel through the lunar crust and mantle using thermonuclear explosives.
Of course, the US did not blow up the moon and is not going to do it; NASA‘s upcoming Artemis mission plans to return humans to the Moon for the first time since Apollo, with the ultimate goal of establishing a sustainable human presence there. Shaking the Moon with nuclear explosions would most likely be in conflict with this mission.
Whether these DIRD papers led to any long-term investment in advanced technology is unknown. Much of the AATIP program relied on contract research from private company Bigelow Aerospace Advanced Space Studies (BAASS), according to Vice.
The company, run by Robert Bigelow, a personal friend of the late Senator Harry Reid, who was responsible for creating AATIP, was awarded a $10 million contract for the first year of research for the program.
This latest FOIA document dump comes just three weeks after British tabloid The Sun received more than 1,500 pages of documents related to alleged UFO sightings cataloged by AATIP. Among these documents was a report on the alleged biological effects of UFO encounters on humans.
The report lists paralysis, “apparent abduction” and “unreported pregnancy” as side effects of alleged UFO encounters.
