US requires WHO to investigate pandemic causes

US, WASHINGTON (ORDO NEWS) — The United States calls on the World Health Organization to immediately begin preparations for an independent investigation into the response to the global coronavirus pandemic.

This is stated in a letter to the assistant secretary of the US Department of Health and Human Services, Brett Girouard, sent to WHO.

The author believes that there is no way to delay the start of the necessary reforms so that such a pandemic never repeats itself.

Girouard believes that the results can be announced at a meeting of the WHO Assembly in the fall of 2020.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump published a letter to WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Gebreyesus, in which he said that if the organization does not commit itself to “significant improvements” in its work within a month, Washington will freeze its funding.

Trump also accused WHO of ignoring the various warning signs of COVID-19, showing itself too dependent on China‘s position.

In the United States, 1,634,175 people were infected with coronavirus pneumonia, 386,081 were cured, and 97,173 died.
