US reports Russian test of anti-satellite missile

US, WASHINGTON (ORDO NEWS) — The US Space Command reported a test of the anti-satellite system . According to the head of the department, General John Raymond, this was evidence of an increasing threat to the spacecraft of the United States and its allies. However, it is worth noting that the Russian Ministry of Defense did not report anything about the tests.

According to the Pentagon, Moscow conducted a test shortly after several Russian spacecraft approached an American reconnaissance satellite. Then General Raymond said that such maneuvers could turn into a “dangerous situation.”

A number of sources say that during the new test, Russia used the Nudol complex. Thus, if we rely on American data, we are talking about the eighth test of the Nudol anti-satellite missile. Earlier (again, according to the data given), the new product was successfully tested in December 2018.

Recall that in February the Russian Ministry of Defense announced the delivery dates for the S-500 anti-aircraft missile system, which should significantly expand the missile defense capabilities of the Armed Forces.
