US, WASHINGTON (ORDO NEWS) — The United States cannot lift sanctions from a Rosneft subsidiary, Bloomberg reports citing a senior source.
The authorities of the country supposedly do not yet have sufficient information that Rosneft Trading actually stopped working in Venezuela after the sale of its assets.
Based on this, they can neither lift the sanctions nor introduce any other restrictions. Moreover, as notesTASS , previously US Special Representative for Venezuela Elliott Abrams, promised to lift the sanctions on Rosneft subsidiaries as soon as it became clear that they really no longer work in Venezuela.
Obviously, this is more of a political move: in this way, the States are actually dragging out time, since the Russian company has already taken its steps.
Recall that sanctions were imposed on February 18, after which the Russian oil giant announced its termination of participation in all projects in Venezuela and sold its shares in them to a company owned by the Russian government, including Petromonagas, Petroperija, Boqueron, Petromiranda and Petrovictoria.
