US prepares new sanctions against Nord Stream 2

US, WASHINGTON (ORDO NEWS) — A group of US senators intends to submit a bill to expand sanctions against the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline.

Bloomberg reported this, referring to a document that turned out to be at its disposal.

It is noted that this bill can be included in the US law on national defense and according to it, sanctions will be directed against companies that insure and provide port services to Russian ships involved in the completion of the project.

Thus, restrictions may be directed against the pipe layers Akademik Chersky and Fortuna.

Bloomberg recalled that one of the initiators of the document, Senator Ted Cruz called the “Nord Stream-2” a national threat to the United States, calling for everything to be done to disrupt its construction.

The Nord Stream-2 project involves the construction of two pipelines along the bottom of the Baltic Sea from Russia to Germany. Currently, the gas pipeline is built at 93%.
