(ORDO NEWS) — The possibility of a nuclear armageddon appears to have increased in recent months, much to the concern and dismay of American citizens.
The US government recently announced the procurement of a drug used in radiological and nuclear emergencies.
The thought of a nuclear war may evoke images of a Cold War or even a distant dystopian future, but the US government takes the threat of an impending nuclear war seriously.
Last week, the Department of Health and Human Services announced $290 million in funding for an anti-radiation drug called Nplate to replenish the country’s supplies for “radiological and nuclear emergencies.”
Nplate, also known as romiplostim, is used to treat low platelets in the blood.
In 2021, the Food and Drug Administration approved the use of the drug as a treatment for people who have been acutely exposed to radiation.
