US, WASHINGTON (ORDO NEWS) — According to Textron Systems Corporation, on February 6, the US Navy delivered a head boat of the SSC type. Soon the hovercraft SSC 100 (LCAC 100) will have to go through a state test cycle, after which it is expected to supply 72 more of these boats.
As part of the Navy, they will have to completely replace 74 boats of the LCAC type (Landing Craft Air Cushioned) by the second half of the 2020s. These vessels have been serving the US Navy for over 30 years and need to be replaced as soon as possible.
According to Textron Systems, the new boat can reach speeds of up to 35 knots (64 kilometers per hour) and take on board almost 75 tons of cargo. It is also reported that construction of 13 serial Ship-to-Shore-Connector is underway.
