Unusual formations on the surface of Mars were captured by NASA’s orbiting probe
(ORDO NEWS) — The surface of the Red Planet never ceases to amaze and captivate with its unearthly spectacle.
A new image taken by the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter reveals bizarre icy landforms.
The resulting image shows the formation of a significant amount of ground ice, which may be present in the mid-latitudes of Mars, where the temperature in the past was sometimes high enough that the ice could even melt.
As a result, the combination of ice expansion and contraction, as well as sublimation, was able to create this amazing landscape.
