United States will deploy new nuclear bombs in Europe at the end of 2022
(ORDO NEWS) — The Pentagon decided to accelerate the implementation of the program of deployment in Europe and Turkey of modernized B61-12 nuclear bombs, which will have to replace the outdated version of the B61.
The B61-12 bomb retained the power of the previous model – 0.3, 1.5, 10 or 50 kilotons. The main feature of the new weapon is the tail unit.
The B61-12 bomb has become more controlled and more accurate, which allows it to be dropped from an aircraft flying at high altitude, after which the bomb autonomously glide towards the target.
The first batch of new-type nuclear weapons will arrive at military bases in Europe in December 2022, and not at the end of 2023 or 2024, as previously planned.
