UN Security Council will continue to work in remote format
US, WASHINGTON (ORDO NEWS) — In the next two months, the UN Security Council may continue to work remotely.
According to Dmitry Polyansky, First Deputy Permanent Representative of Russia to the United Nations, the format of video conferences cannot be equated with ordinary Council meetings. He recalled that according to the UN Charter, briefing and consultations are meetings of the Security Council.
According to him, there was an agreement that all meetings in the format of video conferences will have the status of informal consultations.
Two weeks ago, almost all employees of the UN headquarters in New York switched to remote work, and from that moment meetings of the Security Council in the usual format ceased.
