UN announces increase of domestic violence in the world against quarantine

US, WASHINGTON (ORDO NEWS) — UN Secretary General António Guterres made a statement calling on the public to pay attention to the growing incidence of domestic violence in many states following quarantine measures in connection with the coronavirus epidemic.

He stated that isolation at home and quarantine led to a global outbreak of domestic violence against women around the world.

According to the UN Secretary General, in some countries the number of women contacting support services has doubled due to partner abuse. He called on all governments to include in their national plans for the fight against coronavirus a provision to prevent violence against women as one of the main measures.

In addition, Guterres calls for the safest possible ways to seek help for affected women.

According to the latest data, more than 1.1 million people have become infected with the coronavirus in the world.
