Uber launches robot taxi rides in the US

(ORDO NEWS) — On December 7, Uber announced the launch of robot taxi rides, for the first time in the company’s history.

So far, all this is of a test nature and will only work in Las Vegas. At the same time, the driver will still be in the car, in case of unforeseen situations.

But Uber said that according to their plans, by the end of 2023, the company will be able to get rid of the presence of human support in the cab.

To launch a new initiative, the taxi service has teamed up with Motional. Its main focus is the development of autonomous vehicles.

Note that in Russia, a similar service appeared in 2018. Then Yandex, together with the government of Tatarstan, launched a project of unmanned taxis, with which you can get from work to home within the framework of Innopolis. What is most interesting, Yandex drones are still roaming the roads of the city.
