(ORDO NEWS) — Some time ago, astronomers made an incredible discovery. They discovered two completely new ancient galaxies at the edge of the observable universe. The results of the study were published in the scientific journal Nature. Scientists note that these galaxies have been hidden behind a layer of cosmic dust for a long time, so they could not be detected.
The hidden galaxies REBELS-12-2 and REBELS-29-2 were formed about 13 billion years ago, about 800 million years after the Big Bang. Experts believe that other objects that appeared even earlier may be located next to them. If you can find them, then they will help you learn more about the origin of the Universe and how exactly it developed at the very beginning.
Japanese astronomers studied neighboring galaxies, which are considered to be younger, and recorded ghostly spectral signals. Dusty ancient galaxies were discovered by accident.
Yoshinobu Fudamoto, along with his colleagues in a special ALMA program called Reionization-Era Bright Emission Line Survey (REBELS), studied 40 luminous galaxies that appeared almost immediately after the formation of the Universe. More detailed studies have indeed confirmed that scientists have discovered the facets of those space objects that were previously unknown to science.
