US, WASHINGTON (ORDO NEWS) — US President Donald Trump has threatened to close social networks if they continue to “drown out” the voices of conservatives. The politician made such a statement after a conflict with the Twitter administration, which had previously flagged some of his notes with a warning about the likely falsification of information.
“Republicans believe that social media platforms completely drown out the voices of conservatives,” the American leader wrote. “We will tightly regulate or close them before we ever let this happen. We saw what they tried to do and failed in 2016.”
Earlier, Twitter, which has long been criticized for not actively fighting disinformation, first marked Trump‘s publication with a blue icon, prompting users to check his allegations for consistency. The warning concerned a record in which the head of state said that a postal vote in the presidential election would allegedly lead to fraud.
In his return tweet, Trump accused Twitter of interfering in the presidential election (which should be held in November 2020), and called the media who verified the facts in his statements “CNN fake news” and “Amazon Washington Post” (the newspaper really belongs to Amazon owner Jeff Bezos). According to the president of the United States, adding a note to his tweet, the social network “completely infringes on freedom of speech.”
This is not the first time Trump has accused IT companies of prejudice against conservatives. Last summer, for example, he invited prominent conspiracy theorists and conspiracy theorists to a personal meeting at the White House, whose records were repeatedly removed from social networks due to hostile remarks.
