Trump reports evidence of laboratory origin COVID-19

US, WASHINGTON (ORDO NEWS) — Donald Trump said that he has information that proves that the spread of coronavirus began from a Chinese laboratory in Wuhan, reports CNN. At the same time, the American president refused to share any details in support of his statement, which contradicts the recent findings of the US intelligence community, the channel notes.

Donald Trump challenged the statement of his own special services. According to the American president, he saw evidence that convinced him that the new coronavirus was created in the laboratory of Chinese Wuhan, reports CNN.

“ Yes, I saw (evidence of the artificial origin of the virus. – ed.),” said the head of the White House, answering journalists’ questions. However, he refused to provide any details in support of his allegation. “ I can’t tell you this. I can’t tell you about this,” Trump added.

The president also said that there are “many theories” about the origin of COVID-19 that are worth checking. At the same time, he expressed the hope that, in the end, China itself will tell everything that he knows about the virus.

The president’s comments contradict the data of the US National Intelligence Office, which appeared a few hours before his speech. In its statement, the agency agrees with the consensus of scientists that the virus was not of artificial origin and was not subjected to genetic modification.

At the same time, representatives of the special services abstained from a final assessment. They promised to continue to ” systematically check ” whether the outbreak was caused by ” contact with an infected animal or an accident in a Wuhan laboratory .”

Experts warn that the United States may never know the exact origin of the virus. However, the Trump administration, including Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, continues to demand that intelligence agencies determine whether the virus has spread from a Chinese laboratory. This pressure from outside is alarming in the intelligence community, CNN claims with reference to informed sources.
