Trump orders halt of mask exports

US, WASHINGTON (ORDO NEWS) — US President Donald Trump on Friday ordered his administration to stop exports of N95-type masks and other protective equipment needed to fight the spread of the new coronavirus.

In a statement, he said he invoked the Defense Production Act, which gives him exceptional powers in times of crisis, and said that his decision was “a new measure in our current fight against the reserve, the rise of price and profit by preventing detrimental exports “of essential protective equipment in the face of the epidemic.

Earlier today, in a daily press briefing in the White House, Donald Trump said the government is now recommending that Americans cover their faces, on a voluntary basis, to stem the spread of the new coronavirus.
