US, WASHINGTON (ORDO NEWS) — US President Donald Trump said he was ready to send the military to Minneapolis in riots if asked by local authorities.
“Our armed forces are ready, have the will and skill if they (the city authorities – ed.) Ever want to call our armed forces. We can send troops to the place very quickly,” Trump told reporters in the pool.
According to him, the military should be “tough, strong and respected.”
“These people are antifa, bad radical leftists, they need to be taught that you can’t do this,” Trump said about the rioters.
He also ridiculed the police who fled from the police department in Minneapolis, which was then burned.
“I have never seen anything so terrible and stupid in my life. And now I see that they are trying to justify it,” Trump added.
He also stated that the police should be “much tougher.”
Earlier, the Associated Press reported that the military police in Florida were put on alert in case they were sent to Minneapolis.
Riots broke out in Minneapolis and several other cities after the death of African American George Floyd at the hands of the police. Videos appeared on the Internet that showed that the police handcuffed Floyd, threw him and fell on him three, one of them stepping on his neck with his knee. Floyd on the video several times says that he can’t breathe, then calms down. He died in intensive care. After the riots started, four policemen were fired, and one of them was accused of negligence.
