Trump hopes Riyadh and Moscow reduce oil by 10M barrels
US, WASHINGTON (ORDO NEWS) — US President Donald Trump hopes that Saudi Arabia and Russia will begin to reduce oil production by 10 million barrels or more. He posted the corresponding message on Thursday on Twitter.
The head of the White House did not specify the reduction in production for what period is involved.
“Just talked with my friend Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud, the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, who spoke with Russian President [Vladimir] Putin, and I expect and hope that they will reduce [oil production] by about 10 million barrels and possibly , much stronger, “wrote the American leader. “Maybe up to 15 million barrels. Great news for everyone!” he added later.
In turn, a spokesman for the Russian leader Dmitry Peskov told TASS on Thursday that Putin had not recently had a telephone conversation with Mohammed bin Salman.
Earlier, trump expressed confidence that Russia and Saudi Arabia at some point will come to an agreement on the situation in the oil market.
At the same time, according to him, if Moscow and Riyadh can not reach an agreement, he has his own option of actions to protect the American oil industry. The head of the White House did not specify what kind of plan it was, but stressed that he would prefer not to use it.
Trump said on Tuesday that Russia, the United States and Saudi Arabia will jointly seek a way out of the current situation in the global oil market.
