(ORDO NEWS) — NASA‘s historic moon landing is an ongoing controversy as it is widely believed to be a fake, and one astronomer explained why.
In 1969, NASA astronaut Neil Armstrong became the first person to step onto the lunar surface during the Apollo 11 mission. 22 minutes later, Buzz Aldrin joined Armstrong in his famous One Small Step for a Man speech.
But some conspiracy theorists believe the event was faked because there are no stars in the photos.
Astronomer Keith Cooper explained this phenomenon when asked if you should see stars while standing on the moon.
Speaking to talkRADIO, Mr. Cooper said, “You have to see the stars. This is one of the arguments of conspiracy theorists that explains why humans did not actually fly to the moon. ”
“They look at the pictures and say, ‘There are no stars in the sky.’
“But you have to remember that the astronauts have landed on the daytime side of the moon and you can see the sunlight. The stars are not really visible in the photographs.”
“If the astronauts went to the dark side of the moon, there would be many stars, because there would be no light pollution.”
