(ORDO NEWS) — Some time ago, a NASA probe sent in an interesting image, which shows a bubble covering the solar system. Only a few vehicles – Voyager 1 and Voyager 2 – were able to go beyond the solar system. Now the knowledge of scientists about the structure of space has expanded significantly.
All these years, experts thought that outside the heliosphere (some shell created by the Sun) there is only a void between star systems in the Milky Way. According to scientists, the heliosphere could outwardly resemble a comet with a large tail.
The shell is a shield that protects objects from cosmic rays. The new data completely refuted all previously presented guesses: as it turned out, outwardly, the heliosphere looks more like a chewed gum. It may contain a biological basis. Scientists have noted the presence of reflection, which is created by charged particles and follows to the center of the solar system.
Interaction with the increasing amount of cosmic material in interstellar space increases as the solar wind moves away from the star. These data formed the basis for the creation of a three-dimensional model of the heliosphere.
Experts called the shell a bubble, it surrounds the entire solar system. The heliosphere has a chaotic structure, two powerful jets formed by the solar magnetic field emerge from it.
Experts are confident that the new information will help in the study of other stellar systems. If they also have a similar formation in the form of a bubble, then they may contain living organisms. NASA has already prepared a modern apparatus for new research, the launch of which is scheduled for 2024. The equipment will measure the interaction of energy particles and solar wind.
