(ORDO NEWS) — A digital copy of the first ever sent SMS message went from an auction near Paris. The lot was sold for 107 thousand euros, according to the French newspaper Le Monde.
It is noted that it is about the text “Merry Christmas”, which was sent over the Vodafone network on December 3, 1992. Vodafone computer scientist Neil Papworth sent the message to his colleague Richard Jarvis. Jarvis received an SMS on his cordless phone.
The auction was organized by the auction house Aguttes. The buyer, who wished to remain anonymous, received a digital copy of the message – an NFT token.
Earlier it was reported that Vodafone has created a virtual replica of a simple text message in the form of NFT.
