The symptoms of pancreatic cancer

(ORDO NEWS) — Experts from Columbia University, which is located in the United States, have named the symptoms of the most aggressive type of cancer. It is a tumor that develops in the pancreas. The results of the study were published on the ColumbiaSurgery website.

Determining the presence of a malignant tumor in the pancreas is very problematic due to its extremely inconvenient location.

At the same time, in the early stages, the pathology develops almost imperceptibly for the patient and the diagnosis is made already when it is too late. Cancer can develop for more than one year, and all this time, the size of the tumor will only increase. It is worth noting that mortality from this type of oncology reaches 90%.

A person should be alerted by yellowing of the skin and whites of the eyes. Jaundice is a direct sign that the pancreas is not functioning as expected. Disorders of the gastrointestinal tract, which occur on an ongoing basis, can also become a symptom. These include painful sensations in the abdomen, frequent diarrhea, and severe nausea.

The presence of oncology can also be indicated by a rather sharp pain that occurs in the lower or middle part of the back. It does not disappear for several weeks. The reason for such painful sensations is that the tumor grows and begins to press on all those organs that are nearby.

Serious problems with the pancreas are indicated by high blood sugar levels. Patients in most cases begin to lose weight due to the fact that insufficient amounts of functional enzymes are produced.

Today, pancreatic cancer is in sixth place among different types of oncology. The death rate from it last year reached almost 94% among adult patients.
