The Sun has two strong flares
(ORDO NEWS) — Two flares of the minimum class C were recorded on the Sun on Tuesday morning – they should not affect technology and human health, the chief researcher of the Laboratory of X-ray Astronomy of the Sun of the Lebedev Physical Institute told RIA Novosti. Lebedeva Sergei Bogachev.
“This year is the year of the beginning of solar activity, 11-year growth. The fact that flares will begin gradually was expected. The first harbinger of the cycle occurred on May 29, when there were two fairly large flares. After that, the Sun calmed down and now it seems to be trying to start grow – outbreaks have begun. There is a possibility that a series of more powerful outbreaks will occur during the day, “he said.
According to him, there were two flares on the Sun, one of them is the third in strength this year. There is a tendency for the activity of the star to increase.
However, these are not record-breaking flares, they are 10-100 times weaker than those expected in three to four years – during the main part of the solar cycle.
“In fact, these are large outbreaks against the background of this year, but not those that disable equipment or affect human health,” Bogachev summed up.
