(ORDO NEWS) — The police cannot arrest citizens who are under 18 years of age. This is stated in the current legislation of Brazil. This is reported by APnews.
A few days ago, in Brazil, the police detained a young man who stole a car radio and also painted graffiti, where the symbol of a dangerous criminal group was present. As it turned out later, the offender celebrated his 18th birthday.
When the police found out about the boy’s birthday, they treated him to a cake and even sang the song “Happy Birthday”. The song was sung in Portuguese so that the detainee would surely understand the ardent intentions of the law enforcement officials.
The surprise of course is excellent, but the birthday man was not very happy about such a development of events. Most likely, he did not intend to celebrate his majority in such a way and not in such a company. It is worth noting that Brazilian legislation specifies the fact that the police have no right to detain those citizens who are under 18 years of age.
