US, WASHINGTON (ORDO NEWS) — In the event that an earthquake with a force of more than 9 points occurs, the northern part of Japan will be covered by a 20-meter tsunami. Such conclusions were made by a special commission of Japan, which studies the consequences that may arise as a result of strong earthquakes in the area of the Japanese or Tishima gutters.
After the real disaster in the form of a terrible earthquake and tsunami that arose as a result of it in Japan in 2011, the government commission now regularly conducts various kinds of research.
The commission last stated that a very strong earthquake could occur along the Tisima Trench, the magnitude of which could reach 9.3 points. In the case of the eastern part of Hokkaido, earthquakes can reach 7 points. In principle, even such a force is enough to provoke a tsunami. Because of it, the coastal region of the country and many buildings can suffer.
Very strong shocks can also occur along the entire Japanese Trench. Their strength can reach 9.1 points. As a result of such strong earthquakes, the northern and eastern parts of Japan may suffer from tsunamis, the minimum height of which will be 10 meters.
