Horyu-ji is a Buddhist temple in the city of Ikaruga, Nara Prefecture, Japan. The full name of the temple is Horyu Gakumon-ji, that is, a temple for the study of a flourishing dharma, the temple was used not only as a seminary, but also as a monastery. The temple is considered the oldest wooden building in the world.
