US, WASHINGTON (ORDO NEWS) — A group of neuroscientists from the University of California, Berkeley conducted another study, during which it was possible to prove that the human brain can predict the future to a certain extent.
Scientists have learned that the main factors in predicting the future can be called the fact that the brain takes into account previous experience, and also has a certain sense of rhythm. American experts, in turn, suggested that these systems are not only located in different parts of the brain, but also can fully function separately.
During the study, patients with Parkinson’s disease, as well as cerebellar degeneration, were recruited. They had to follow the pictures of figures of different colors and press the button when a green square appears. The appearance of a white square spoke of his imminent approach. Each of the patients to a certain extent was able to cope with the task.
Then, the experts analyzed the results and determined that the cerebellum is a system that takes into account previous experience. The sense of rhythm, in turn, acts only at the level of the basal ganglia. If the systems will complement each other, then get create a holistic picture of the future.
Such an interesting study was able to demonstrate the new capabilities of the human brain, as well as the work of individual sites. In the future, scientists will continue to explore this issue in order to learn as much as possible about methods for predicting the future.
